Run a session
Use language and accessibility defaults
Pre-set locale, font, contrast, motion, and read-aloud so every student starts on the right setting without classroom setup time.
Every ClassPods session inherits a small set of defaults from the teacher. Set them once before launching a live session and students join with those settings already on — no walking around the room to help students find toggles.
What you can pre-set
- Default locale — the language each question loads in for new students. They can still switch in the in-game toolbar.
- Easy reading font — switches to Lexend, a typeface designed to be more readable for many students, including those with dyslexia.
- High contrast — sharper text and background pairs for low-vision or bright-classroom conditions.
- Reduce motion — turns off celebratory animations and transitions.
- Hide leaderboard — removes the between-question ranking screen.
These match the toggles a student would otherwise find under the in-game accessibility toolbar.
When to use which default
- Reduce motion is helpful when you have students who get distracted by transitions or who have requested calmer screens.
- Easy font helps mixed-ability reading classes from the first question.
- High contrast is the right call in classrooms with strong sunlight or older projectors.
- Hide leaderboard is usually the right default for younger grades or anxious learners.
Students can still override
Defaults are a starting point. The in-game accessibility toolbar lets each student turn settings up or down for their device. Their choice is saved in their browser for next time.
Restricting locales
If your students should only see English and Arabic, restrict the language list when setting up the quiz. The in-game toolbar then only offers those two — no extra languages to distract from.
