Run a session
Host a live session
Turn any quiz into a teacher-led live classroom moment with a shared PIN.
A live session is the energetic version of any ClassPods quiz. You control pacing from the teacher screen while students join from their devices.
Start the session
From any quiz, choose Host live. ClassPods generates a 6-digit PIN. Share it with the class — students enter it at /join and pick a nickname. No accounts required.
You'll see students arriving in real time on the lobby screen.
Configure the room before you start
Before launching, you can pre-set a few defaults so students don't have to discover them mid-game:
- Locale — pick the default language for the room. Students can still switch on their device.
- Easy font, high contrast, reduce motion — these apply on load for every student.
- Hide leaderboard — useful for younger classes or anxious learners.
Defaults you set here are inherited by every student joining the session.
Run the questions
Each question shows on your screen with a timer. When time is up, ClassPods reveals the distribution of answers, the correct response, and the explanation if you wrote one.
Use the spacebar to advance, or click Next on your screen.
After the last question
The session ends with a class summary: average accuracy, weak spots, and a per-student breakdown. Save it, send the same quiz as homework to the same group, or close the room.
Tips
- Check the lobby count against your class roster before starting.
- If a student loses connection, they can rejoin with the same PIN and nickname.
- For mixed-language classes, set the default locale to whichever language is harder for most students and let stronger readers switch in the toolbar.
